Hello everyone, I’m Alma from Bosnia. My introduction to the desert world began a some time back when I got introduced to the thrill of off-roading. That’s when my love for it ignited.
With my Mitsubishi Pajero in hand, my eagerness to hit the desert tracks grew. I decided to start my journey with TORQUE CONVERTER, a discovery that captivated me. Excited about driving in the desert, I enrolled in the FOUNDATION OFFROAD PROGRAM to accelerate my offroad learning. In just 2 classes, I was talking a different language. The program gave me immense confidence and helped me push my limits in comforting my offroad drives in desert. That’s not all, their weekly offroad drives, expedition drives, camping and other adventure activities are something that got me hooked to them.
What I love about the off-roading is the constant learning, and these guys play a crucial role. Their knowledge and patience, coupled with an excellent way of explaining things, make the journey even more enjoyable.

After having lived in the UAE for just over three years, last summer I decided I wanted to make the most of one of the country’s natural beauties: the desert.
I sold my tiny Fiat 500, upgraded to a Mitsubishi Pajero and joined the Torque Converter Beginners course. I have been driving with them for the last three months, almost every Saturday, and no drive is the same.
I got sanded many times, ascended and descended several dunes and even managed to take amazing photo shots (on our breaks, not whilst driving!). My journey so far couldn’t have been more exciting and I could have never done it without the support of Torque Converter Marshals. I am anything but a risk-taker and off-roading is indeed a very extreme sport for me however, the amount of organisation and effort that go into marshals’ job is incredible and it has such a positive impact.
Each drive comes with a safety briefing which not only covers off-roading rules and practicalities, but also stresses the importance of clear and prompt communication with marshals and convoy-mates, awareness and respect of nature and wildlife and – most importantly – self-awareness, i.e. there is no need to challenge yourself if you don’t feel like taking the leap, marshals will go find another route for you.
The team and all of the drivers I have met so far make the whole experience a very special one and I do hope to get more people on this journey with me and hopefully take my off-road driving to the next level.

When I joined the program, I was a novice to desert driving. My goal was to learn the skills to navigate the desert, enjoy its beauty, and connect with like-minded people. From the very beginning, the teaching was exceptional. The basics were covered thoroughly, and the progress was steady, neither overwhelming nor too slow.
Driving in convoys turned out to be an incredible learning opportunity, with friendly and supportive people and marshals always ready to guide. I took their FOUNDATION OFFROAD PROGRAM. The instructors are quite knowledge. They trained me in 2 sessions. Every activity is designed keeping a new driver in mind. The program’s balanced approach integrates theoretical understanding with practical application, providing essential hands-on experience.
They patiently explain each and every possible mistakes a new driver could do. They create multiple groups of similar skilled of drivers. I found the team quite transparent in giving you the feedback. They conduct well organized events with a team of professional & disciplined Marshals.

I saw the Instagram page of Torque Converters and instantly I felt that I would love to be able to be part of this community. I was able to join via website and got on to joining a beginners drive. On arrival I felt super welcome and part of the community. I have done a few drives and absolutely appreciate the skill and knowledge of the Marshalls. Safety is key. Never at any time is this undervalued. Drivers are guided clearly and calmly on all aspects and each drive is a wonderful experience.
I was able to also participate in the all Women’s Workshop which included a pre-drive explanation on basics and equipment required . Then we set off and got to driving. Some ladies to experience their first feel of driving in the desert. It went super well and it was a blend of just the right amount of adrenaline, support and camaraderie.
I am getting more friends to sign up with TORQUE CONVERTER because this is the way to go… Looking forward to more drives and definitely planning to do some of the excellent OFFROAD PROGRAMS they offer. If you love the desert your only regret is not joining sooner!!!

The two-day/two-session program was awesome! We gained a lot more understanding about the gears and special off-road settings in our Pajero. Plus, our Marshals taught us both how to drive AND how to get unstuck if we got stuck – super important! The whole team of Marshals was simply amazing and super skilled which made everything easy to understand. By the end, we felt way more confident and fell in love with the desert. Can’t wait to do more off-roading with these guys!

Joining the TORQUE CONVERTER family and later joining its FOUNDATION OFFROAD PROGRAM was an incredible experience. I quickly realized the importance of understanding your vehicle and the terrain to avoid hazards. Techniques like controlled acceleration, forgetting traditional road reflexes and maintaining momentum on dunes were crucial to staying safe. Practising vehicle recovery methods (kinetic ropes, winching, popped tyre) also boosted my confidence in handling challenging situations. I’ve been driving Jeep for a few years now, mostly on roads and around Al Qudra Lakes, but I always wanted to learn and experience driving in the real dunes.
A friend recommended the TORQUE CONVERTER’s ALL WOMEN OFFROADING WORKSHOP, and I immediately signed up.
I’m so glad I did! The workshop was extremely well-organized, with a perfect balance of theory and hands-on driving in the dunes. It really boosted my confidence, teaching me not only how to prepare my car in but also how to navigate through the dunes safely.

The TORQUE CONVERTER team guided us flawlessly by choosing thrilling routes with all safety precautions and guidance & continuously giving us instructions via radiophones that has always made us feel safe &protected.

I am Aamir from Kashmir, India. I thought I knew how to drive my Jeep Wrangler JL until I joined TORQUE CONVERTER’s FOUNDATION OFFROAD PROGRAM — turns out, sand dunes don’t care about you or your confidence! It is much more than that. A few classes later, I’m tackling terrain like an ok-okish (or at least, a not so beginner-ish). The instructors are legends, and their off-road trips as well.
